ITV has said it has ‘no plans’ for former Apprentice contestant Katie Hopkins to appear on This Morning following a petition calling on the outspoken commentator to be banned from any future TV appearances.
The 38-year-old media personality endured a wage of negative comments after she made an apparent joke about Scottish life expectancy just hours after a helicopter crash killed nine people in a Glasgow.
Hopkins wrote on Saturday: ‘Life expectancy in Scotland based 07/08 birth is 59.5. Goodness me. That lot will do anything to avoid working until retirement.’
Although she later clarified that her tweet was referring to an NHS report, her poorly timed message sparked internet outrage and tens of thousands of people subsequently signed a Change.org petition calling for the ‘vile’ columnist to be banned from all television programmes and interviews.
